I’ve recently discovered MayFly and am a bit shocked it took me this long. It’s a really wonderful shop! I spent ages browsing around the first time I went in as there are so many quirky, fun and retro-cool items to lust after. From lego and scrabble rings to the genius bottle-cap jewellery as well as some seriously impressive steampunk skeletonized watches and other lovely earrings/cufflinks etc. It’s a treasure trove that you can really get lost in and come out having found some undeniably unique items. Some of the products are more expensive than others (as some reviews have mentioned below) but there are also some great bargains – I got a really cute pair of Wild Card owl earrings for €6. Given that a lot is handmade, I would be hesitant to criticise on pricepoint. The funky, stand-alone, quirky boutiques are part of what makes shopping in Dublin special and MayFly is a fantastic example of this kind of shop.
This treasure of a shop is really a gem a stumble upon while wandering around Temple Bar. It contains some of the most ingenious and unique pieces of Irish art. These include jewellery, bags, strange creatures, hats, fairy lights and many more. Every time I enter this shop I see something new, because there is so much to see and there is always some new oddity being created.

Ok I have an important question for each of you. I wonder if you could help me?
If you were to search for our shop in Google (or your preferred search engine) what words would you type in? What were you looking for today that you’ve seen in our shop?
We have a very kind offer from a new friend- an insider in Google Analytics who has offered to help us with a campaign to drive traffic to our site. Our first homework is this: to determine what words people would use to find what we’ve got?
If you would be kind enough to respond to this, with just a second of your time we’d be so grateful!
For those of you who are familiar with both our shop and our website you’ll know that we still have thousands of items to list on this website of the things that we make and stock in the shop. Perhaps you’d be in an even better position to help us out- what are you looking for in a general sense when you come into our shop?
Thanks in advance to any of you who get in touch.
For those of you who aren’t in the know- ‘Shifting’ is ‘making out’ if you’re Irish. And while we’re doing the translations if you are one of the thousands of Americans in Dublin today for the Notre Dame/ Marines football game- please don’t talk about your ‘fanny pack’! It’s got a very different connotation this side of the pond.
Had fun making these hairslides today. Here’s a few more. Which one do you like best? And can you suggest any more 4 letter words I could make?
And while I had the hot glue gun out I embellished these handmade genuine leather silver colour coin purses with the Afghani discs that I bought from an Afghani in Chatuchak market in Bangkok. Together they make a lovely combo even if I do say so myself.
