Lynn from the Upcycle Movement did a lovely blog post about her visit to MayFly.
Read more about it and the Upcycle Movement here:
I met Alexa while I was doing the promotion for MayFly through the Phantom FM Pop up shop.
She’s opening a new venue called White Lady Art Gallery which looks like an exciting venture.
MayFly will be selling some of its Oh Boy cufflinks and a few quirky treasures in this space.
The opening for the gallery will be on the 2nd November and we’re excited to come along and take a look.

It was a pleasure to meet Lynn today from the Upcycle Movement. She’s recently launched this website http://www.theupcyclemovement.com/ which she hopes to be a directory of all things recycled, upcycled and inspiring ideas and opportunities.
We’re really excited to see where her project goes and to see how we might collaborate. If you are also interested in upcycling don’t miss out on her website where you can also register as an upcycler.
So, we’d like to give you another gift voucher this month for our October competition. You may use this voucher in our shop in Temple Bar or on our website here. GIFT!
You can choose to spend it on any of our lovely Irish handmade handcrafted recycled upcycled original art, crafts, gifts or jewellery! As you know we have unique special Irish made things made by a collection of over 25 Irish based artists and craftworkers. We have cufflinks, bog oak keychains, furniture by James Carroll of Stickman, golden jewels by Chupi, felted treasures by Wooly Boo (resident artists) and all kinds of other items to choose from.
All you have to do is tell us which 3 things on our website you love best. Who you’d gift them to and why. We’ll pick the winner out of a hat on the 1st November. Anyone can enter and the prize is a €35 gift certificate.
For a bonus- to raise your voucher up to €50 all you have to do is work a little harder. Tell us what you’d like to see on our site that isn’t here already, and or how you think we could improve our website.
There was a lovely post about her shop and this charity on her website here.
We just had a look at the dogs that need a home this month. Check out Mavis here:
And Dicey the Lurcher:
All of these photos are making me think that we need a mascot in MayFly! What do you think?
Which one will you take home?
I’ve had many people ask me where they can get this wonder glue in Ireland? MayFly in Temple Bar has the answer!
If you’re a Pinterest fan no doubt you’ve seen many references to this stuff. It’s a clear glue, sealer and varnish. If you like to decoupage or image transfer, its the business!
Unfortunately it seems hard to come by on our lovely island. I’ve just started importing the stuff and while it isn’t cheap- we’ve got it! €7 for a 4 oz bottle.
I had tried buying it off Amazon.co.uk and like many things for some reason they won’t ship to us… I had to import it from the USA.
I’ll add it to the website soon but in the meantime, just send me a message if you’re interested, I bought in a few extra bottles.
I have also decided to do a major de-stash and bring bags of excess crafting materials to MayFly. We’ll have beads, shells, findings, ribbon, lace and fabric for a limited time only. I may sell off some tools as well, some of them second hand, and also some new jewellery pliers that I’ve come across that beat any others hands down. I’ll keep you posted.
….is Naoise! She may have used some guerilla social networking techniques but hey it still counts!
Here is her beautiful winning entry photo:
A very close second was by Sinead also a breathtaking image: (ironically modeling the same ring!)
Thanks everyone for participating and we’ll announce the October competition very soon!
Naoise you may call by the shop to collect your voucher anytime!
MayFly is delighted to take part in Phantom’s pop up shop- The Phantom Workshop- read about it here: https://phantom.ie/page/-/1404/0/
We’ll be at Wellington Quay next to the Workman’s Club from 2-4pm.
I’ll have to overcome my fear of speaking on-air, gulp. Let’s see if I don’t faint!
We’ll bring a quirky selection of MayFly goodies for your buying pleasure.
Hope to see you there! (PS have a browse around our website here with the links above to see what we are about and what we might bring today!)

The Phantom Workshop…doing our bit to promote the best of Dublin.
The Phantom Workshop is an initiative that supports selected local businesses, big and small who will be showcasing their products daily, it creates a social space where you can meet the station, and enjoy a coffee and and leave a donation for a great cause. We have selected Pieta House as our chosen charity. If you can’t make it down we have set up this MyCharity page so that you can donate online. The Pieta House – The Centre for the Prevention of Self-Harm or Suicide charity is a very worthy cause and we would very much appreciate your support in helping us to raise funds for this charity.
Just wanted to share this amazing video with you all.
